Carpet Decor

A carpet is an essential item in many homes, but it does not have to only be something warm to walk about on. A carpet can be a major decorative element your home. With such a wide array of different carpets available in all kinds of colors and designs, you are sure to be able to find one that fits with your own personal style. If you are not sure where to start, check out our carpet décor tips for some inspiration:

Be brave with your color choices.
Picking a bold carpet color can have a big impact on the look of a room and it is a great way of showcasing your individual style. It is an unusual choice and can set the tone for the atmosphere, allowing you to use either complementary or contrasting shades on your walls and-or upholstery for a contemporary look that is sure to be admired.

Try a new texture.
A carpet is there to be walked on after all, so why not choose one that provides a tactile experience as well as a visual one? Different heights and directions in the pile can create a range of different styles that will add interest to any carpet, either patterned or plain. Whether it is short, shaggy, soft or nubby, you will be amazed at the difference a bit of texture can make to the look and feel of your room.

Be inspired by the outdoors.

A walk out in nature reveals so many beautiful colors, from the soft greens and browns of a summer woodland through calming blues and grays seen in the sea and sky. By capturing these pure hues in your carpet, you can bring some of the look and feel of the great outdoors in to your home. Organic shapes – such as leaf and trellis patterns – are popular options to add to that natural effect.

Go retro with pattern.

They may have fallen out of favor for a while, but patterns are back. You can go for something bold and modern or choose something a little more low-key just to keep things interesting. From angular shapes and geometric designs to more classic floral styles, whichever type you choose, you are sure to enjoy picking it out.

Experiment with different neutrals.

If you fancy something more traditional but with a bit of a twist, try picking a neutral shade in a slightly unexpected color. Most people think of cream and beige when they hear the word neutral, but there are many other options out there. A richer color like chocolate brown can bring real warmth to a room. Neutral shades of yellow bring a light, uplifting feel to a room. Painting your walls the same color can give the illusion of the room being larger and provides a great blank canvas which you can embellish further in any way you wish.
